Haunted Mansion Soundscape

With Halloween right around the corner, Disney has released an eerily delightful new soundscape video. This one features the Haunted Mansion with multiple animated scenes and music from the different areas. It's perfect to listen to as you finish those last minute costume adjustments and add just a few more pumpkins to your Halloween decor.

Ghosts of the Haunted Mansion

The Haunted Mansion looks especially eerie during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. And, of course, "that is the time when ghosts are present, practicing their terror with ghoulish delight!" Madame Carlotta and Broom the Butler can often be found in front of the Mansion, regaling guests with ghostly tales.

The Haunted Mansion is one of the most iconic Disney rides. There are five ghostly haunts around the world: Haunted Mansion in Disneyland, Disney World, and Tokyo Disneyland, Phantom Manor in Disneyland Paris, and Mystic Manor in Hong Kong Disneyland. Each mansion is unique, with the Phantom Manor being the spookiest in my opinion. The latest episode of We Call It Imagineering goes behind the scenes of these spectral abodes that have kept us fascinated for over 50 years.

Haunted Mansion Tombstones

The cemetery at the Haunted Mansion is always an eerie delight, especially at night. I love reading all of the rhyming epitaphs on the tombstones. For example, the bottom stone reads "Rest in Peace Cousin Huet. We all know you didn't do it." The stone on the left says "Here lies a man named Martin. The lights went out on this old Spartan."

I've enjoyed watching the Muppets Haunted Mansion every Halloween since it debuted in 2021. It's so funny and clever, with some quite memorable songs. This song by the Caretaker takes place in the cemetery of the Haunted Mansion.

Haunted Mansion Art

I love looking at the Halloween windows on Main Street, USA. Every year, there's a different, fun theme. In 2019, each window featured artwork of various characters in oval frames. This Haunted Mansion art of the Hatbox Ghost and Sally Slater, the Tightrope Walker, was my favorite.

It was so fun to see the Hitchhiking Ghosts from the Haunted Mansion at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party last year.

The Haunted Mansion's Waltzing Dead

I love the Boo to You Parade at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. And my favorite section is from the Haunted Mansion: the Gravediggers, the Hitchhiking Ghosts, the Bride, and of course, the Ballroom Dancers, also known as the Waltzing Dead.

Beware Of Hitchhiking Ghosts!

The Hitchhiking Ghosts from the Haunted Mansion appeared in Frontierland during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. I suppose they were "practicing their terror with ghoulish delight."

The Ravenscroft Organ

I love the queue at Disney World's Haunted Mansion. It's so fun to wander through the cemetery, playing with all of the interactive elements. The Ravenscroft Organ, named for voice actor Thurl Ravenscroft, is one of my favorites. Touching the keys changes the music and causes mist and water to spray from the pipes. 

We Call It Imagineering - Soundscapes

The second episode of We Call It Imagineering has arrived on YouTube and it is just as amazing as the first. This episode takes a listen to the magic of music in creating scenes and moods within the Parks, rides, and shows. The episode features the new soundtracks for three attractions: the Country Bears, the Dreams That Soar drone show at Disney Springs, and Tiana's Bayou Adventure. And, of course, they share some footage of classic rides like the Haunted Mansion, as well as highlighting the contributions of the Sherman Brothers. This series is fantastic and I'm looking forward to seeing the next episode.

Grim Grinning Ghosts Dance Party

What better way to end Halfway to Halloween week than with a bit of music. This Dance Party version of "Grim Grinning Ghosts" from the end of last year's delightful Haunted Mansion strikes just the right note to head into the weekend.

Halfway To Halloween Disney Style

We're halfway to Halloween, so Disney has released a look at a few exciting things coming to Disneyland, Disney World, and the Disney Cruise Line this spooky season.  The new Haunted Mansion Parlor on the Disney Treasure looks ghoulishly delightful!

The Haunted Mansion Parlor Lounge

Welcome, foolish mortals, to the Haunted Mansion Parlor Lounge?! This new lounge will appear aboard the Disney Treasure when it sets sail next year. It looks amazing!

The lounge will be the home of a swinging wake for a jovial captain who died after a disastrous dinner with his beloved fiancé. The decor is a nod to the classic ride, but with a seafaring twist.

A delightful array of ghoulish beverages have been created especially for this lounge.

• Sympathetic Libations - a zero-proof cocktail with sour cherry and blood orange flavors
• Ghoulish Delight - ube fudge, oat milk and tapioca pearls become a glittery purple concoction, garnished with a gummy eyeball
• Signature Beverage - a ghostly twist on a classic margarita: presented amidst a swirl of flavored smoke, topped with a lemon salt foam, with a secret message that can only be revealed by black light

And if you just can't wait to try one of these eerie new beverages, just head over to the Disney Parks Blog to download the recipes. There will also be special merchandise available at the Haunted Mansion Parlor. 

The Haunted Mansion Parlor Music Box - this mysterious box belonged to the captain’s bride-to-be and only opens in the presence of malevolent spirits.

The Haunted Mansion Parlor Clock was inspired by the old grandfather clock from the original Disney Parks attraction.

The Haunted Mansion Parlor Mirror will offer a frightening surprise when the hitchhiking ghosts mysteriously appear in the frame.

This is just one of several themed lounges that you will find onboard the Disney Treasure.  Others include Skipper Society, inspired by the Jungle Cruise, and Periscope Pub, inspired by the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. I would want to try them all!

I love the soundtrack to Disney's Haunted Mansion ride any time of year, but especially at Halloween. It just always puts me in a happy, spooky mood.

The Mansion - Haunted Mansion Soundtrack

The score for Disney's Haunted Mansion was the perfect accompaniment to this delightfully spooky film. And it's great for creeping into the Halloween season too. This is the main theme, called "The Mansion".

Haunted Mansion arrives on DisneyPlus on October 4th.

It was the summer of the drive-in theater for us this year. We saw a ridiculous number of movies (I think 12 new and 4 repeats), and with one unexpected exception, we liked every single one. It was a surprisingly great summer for movies.
